The Game: Tapple is played using the iconic, sleek blue and black Tapple Wheel, a unique electronic device featuring all 20 consonants plus the “wild” letters A, E, I, O, U arranged around its circumference. When a player selects a category card—such as “Pizza Toppings,” “Pet Names,” or countless others—the excitement begins. The first player immediately starts the round by announcing a word that fits the category. Crucially, that word must start with one of the available letters on the Tapple Wheel.
The Challenge: Once a word is announced (like “MOZZARELLA!” for the “Pizza Toppings” category), the player must quickly tap the button corresponding to the starting letter of their word (in this case, ‘M’). This action locks that letter into the wheel and resets the 10-second timer, removing the letter from play for the current round. The next player must then immediately come up with a word for the same category using one of the remaining available letters and tap that letter, resetting the timer for the next person.
The Thrill: The real tension comes from the ticking clock! Players must think fast because if the timer runs out before they can name a word and tap a letter, they are eliminated from the round! The pressure is on as the pool of available starting letters shrinks and the clock ticks relentlessly. The last player standing wins the round and keeps the category card. The first player to collect three cards is crowned the ultimate Tapple champion.
